CPP Investment Board is one of the largest and fastest growing institutional investors in the world.  Headquartered in Toronto, with offices in London and Hong Kong, the CPP Investment Board is governed and managed independently of the Canada Pension Plan by experienced and highly skilled investment professionals. Their job is to prudently invest CPP assets to help pay future pensions.

We are presently recruiting for an Analyst, Responsible Investing in the Public Market Investments department. The Analyst will contribute to research on public companies, portfolio analysis and direct and collaborative engagement initiatives. This person will have professional and/or academic experience related to investment management and bring enthusiasm and knowledge of corporate environmental and social practices to the position.

Role Specific Accountabilities:

• Research and analyze company specific environmental and social risks and opportunities in order to support engagement and investment decision making processes

• Actively participate in corporate engagement activities, either through working collaboratively within coalitions or through direct engagement and proxy voting

• Collect and analyze data in review of the public equity portfolio and assist with the identification of environmental and social risks and engagement opportunities

• Contribute to the implementation of CPP Investment Board’s Policy on Responsible Investing

• Undertake core corporate governance research for public companies

• Develop research documents, presentations and briefing notes

• Contribute to the production of summary reports of activities and results

• Monitor and analyze responsible investing trends and issues

• Other duties as required

If you possess the following, we’d like to hear from you:

• 2 years experience in investment management, environmental risk measurement and/or management or other relevant field 

• University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. finance, economics, business, environmental studies)

• Well-developed research and analytical skills

• Basic knowledge of portfolio management and investment concepts - completion of CFA Level 1 an asset

• Basic knowledge of current environmental and social risks and opportunities for public companies

• Proficient with MS Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint  

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Solid, demonstrated communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrated good judgment and professionalism

• Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable

• Ability to perform effectively in a team environment as well as work independently
