Market Surveillance analysts are responsible for monitoring assigned products and related cash and derivative markets in order to detect market conditions, positions or indicia of manipulative activity that potentially could disrupt or otherwise adversely affect the integrity, performance or orderly expiration of Exchange contracts. Analysts closely and proactively monitor market participation, deliveries, news and fundamental factors that influence the price of their assigned contracts and communicate regularly with market participants and clearing firm staff. Analysts also conduct investigations in connection with the department’s monitoring of compliance with ex-pit transaction, position limit, delivery and reporting rules, in addition to matters involving manipulation or attempted manipulation. Analysts work independently and as part of teams in conducting their responsibilities and also work on a variety of projects related to the department’s self-regulatory responsibilities. The department’s work is consistently challenging, interesting and diverse and the position provides broad exposure to the industry as well as significant growth opportunities. Market analysts play an important role in protecting the integrity of the markets and enjoy significant diversity in their work, including surveillance assignments across product classes, investigative work and project assignments. Qualifications: (List what the person needs to have in their experience to be able to do the job.) Required: Bachelors degree in related field of study. Excellent analytical abilities as well as strong written and oral communication skills are required. A high degree of professionalism and the capacity to learn quickly are also critical attributes. Facility with Microsoft Office is necessary. Writing sample will be required. Preferred: Prior industry experience or other relevant work experience is strongly desired.
