This position is for a Senior Java Developer within the Trading Solutions team in Global Fixed Income Technology. This team provides technology services to Fixed Income traders and more generally to the Fixed Income business.

This position is for a Senior Java Developer within the Trading Solutions team in Global Fixed Income Technology. This team provides technology services to Fixed Income traders and more generally to the Fixed Income business.
 
The Fixed Income business is a strategic growth area for BGI. It employs a number of investment techniques and strategies using multiple asset classes. The global vision for the FI Trading solutions team is to provide a stable, scalable platform with appropriate standards and procedures to support the evolving demands of the Fixed Income Traders.
 
 
Primary Responsibilities

  • The individual will be responsible for enhancing the strategic Fixed Income Trading systems. The primary focus will be on the Java based Order Management and Execution system for Bonds and futures. The secondary focus will be the C# and .Net based Order Management and Execution system for derivatives.  
     
  • To successfully deliver solutions to the business, this individual will need to work closely with team members, traders and with other teams within BGI. He/She will also be required to provide production support for the Execution 
     
  • The individual will be encouraged to learn and understand the Fixed Income Business at BGI, so that he can participate in discussions on how to further strengthen architectures and processes.
     

 
Qualifications
 

Candidates must have the following skills/ experience:

  • BS or MS (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics or other numerate discipline.
  • Experience in the finance industry: (preferably Fixed Income) (2+ years).
  • Knowledge of Bonds and Futures 
  • Expertise in Java programming– (5+ years)
  • Expertise in Swing – (3+ years)
  • Expertise in JMS, XML and SQL
  • Knowledge of Spring framework and Hibernate
  • SQL Server/Sybase/Oracle or equivalent RDBMS (2+ years).
  • Linux & Windows.
  • Working knowledge of Scripting – Shell, Python.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following skills/abilities:

  • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills.
  • Proven team player.
  • Good sense of prioritization.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative.

The following skills/experience is a plus:

  • Knowledge of Fix messaging
  • Experience with Execution venues like Trade web and Market Axess
  • Proven experience in highly transactional & high performance applications development.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Coherence/Tangosol technology
  • Experience with JIDE Framework.
  • Experience in TDD, Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the Bloomberg Server API
  • Experience working with Eclipse + IntelliJ
  • Experience working with C# and .Net
